So I think you should write reviews on the sword of truth books since the show came out. There should be a lot of hype about them because of that. You should also review the twilight books since the movie came out and everyones ranting about that. Focus on whats popular right now and you should get plenty of views for your site. I would search movie sites for up coming new releases since they always generate new groups who look for the book. Also perhaps as a writing exorcise you should review movies as well so you can practice describing things you see and not just things you read.

I wanted to tell you I think the book website is a really cool idea.

I'm always looking for suggestions, the trouble is that I'm super picky these days... I kinda only like short stories. Hah. For a suggestion for your site, you should have a category for short story-books!! Haha, is this the most ridiculous thing you've ever heard? maybe I'm crazy. or this is really far-fetched.

Anyway, as far as short stories go, you can't beat David Sedaris. I'm hoping you've read his stuff. I re-read his books over and over again. HYSTERICAL. He's this flamboyantly gay dude who chains smokes and just had the best stories ever. He also frequently contributes to NPR's This American Life.

If you've read any short story books, I'd love to hear about them!!!

I would also recommend short stories by Miranda July (they're stories "women" would like to read, like funny love-y stories and such) But not Tom Robbins or Augusten Burroughs' short stories. Everyone and their dog may looooove Tom Robbins for that ridiculous Even Cowgirls Get the Blues book and others like it, but I find them incredibly annoying. He's got too short of an attention span to write a whole book. and his short story book sucks too, but maybe that's because it isn't in this time period. Eh. Whatev. And Augusten Burroughs may have hit it big with Running With Scissors, but that doesn't mean his short stories do anything for me. He doesn't think about things any differently than I do, and I could have written those same stories. For real. Sucks. He just tells everyday stories and tries to twist the concepts, like being afraid of the tooth fairy. I guess Oprah likes the stories, but I've decided she is kinda stupid.

Everyone is really into the Chuck Palahniuk books right now, I guess you could write about them because they're so popular? I've read two that were decent, Choke and Invisible Monsters. They're not short stories though. And their popularity might be from the movie just released like this past summer? I think it was Choke, but I don't remember exactly. Oh well, doesn't matter.

Hah, sorry if this was INCREDIBLY rant-y. Forgive me?

Hey girl, I just wanted to first off say congrats on your new site. Secondly, I think that maybe one thing you could do is give a little bit of backround on some of the things you have read...maybe a few examples of some of the books within different genres that you have read. Well Lady, good luck! And I'll probably be hitting up this site soon enough.

Rosalie - Thanks for the nice review and the blog comment on my blog. Now get back to writing!! (Just kidding; you can actually do other things in this life.)

I just finished my 29th book (on hypnosis), which will be published by W.W. Norton next June and I am working on selling the next one this weekend.

Good for you for doing a blog; good platform building. I look forward to reading your first book. (I am only a hypnotist, so that is only a suggestion.).
